Three Guys - No Ties.

We approach investment management in a casual, comfortable setting — but more importantly without exclusive ties to one specific brokerage firm nor conflicts of interest because we operate on a Fee-Only™ basis.  That means we do not receive commissions on investments, so you can be confident that our interests are aligned with yours.

Sam Dreher

Founder

In 1994, Sam Dreher founded H.S Dreher Capital Management as an independent Registered Investment Advisory firm to serve the investment needs of retirees, and those planning for retirement, in an objective and conflict-free way.  Sam’s investment career began in 1968 when he worked for a large trust company in Chicago as an investment analyst.  Over the last five decades, Sam has helped clients in a variety of areas including municipal bond and commodity trading as well as individual portfolio management.  He graduated from and holds a MBA from the University of Kansas, and currently serves on the board of the Companion Animal Clinic Foundation.

Tom Velevis, CFP®

Managing Principal

Tom Velevis, CFP® joined the firm in 1999 and is the firm’s Managing Principal.  After graduating with a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from UNC Chapel Hill, his investment career began as an advisor with a national brokerage firm in Durham. As a Certified Financial Planner practitioner, he has met the requirements to be a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor, an accolade that sets him apart from other advisors in our community.    Tom serves on the United Way of Moore County’s board of directors and is participating in the Chamber of Commerce’s 2019 Moore County Leadership Institute.

Michael White

Michael White joined the team as an Investment Associate in 2015 and is focused on new client engagements and portfolio management.  His role is essential to making certain that all client portfolios are well-diversified and rebalanced regularly.  Prior to joining the firm, Michael was a financial planner at a mutual insurance company.  He graduated with a BS in Economics with a minor in Business Management and Administration from East Carolina University.  Currently, Michael is the President of the Southern Pines Business Association and, as a member of the Southern Pines Rotary Club, serves as the Meals on Wheels committee chairperson and as the Community Services Director.
